The mission of oneTreasure Church is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to all peoples, disciple those who believe on His name and to send those disciples into the world to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to all peoples… (Matthew 28:18-20)
oneTreasure’s mission flows from the mission of God, which is to reconcile a hopelessly lost and undeserving world to Himself, through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the witness of the Holy Spirit, thereby restoring His kingdom here on earth. (Matthew 6:10)
We are the ambassadors of God to the peoples of this world, having been entrusted with the message of reconciliation — God making His appeal to the world through us. (2 Cor. 5:18)
To fulfill our mission, we will Proclaim, Disciple and Send, all to the glory of God who is supreme and sovereign over all things.
This gospel that we have been entrusted with is good news! It has the power to raise the dead to life and give hope to the hopeless. It is in the teaching and preaching of the word of God that the gospel reaches the ears and eyes of lost people, opening the way for the Holy Spirit to affect reconciliation. All peoples have been commanded to worship and obey God; we must proclaim that word so they have an opportunity to be obedient, always keeping in mind that it is God who reconciles, not man.
In light of these facts, the proclamation of the good news must be at the core of oneTreasure Church’s ministry. Our good works, our caring ministries, our fellowship and our teaching ministries will all be formed around our desire to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. The gospel is primary and non-negotiable.
The primary function of the church, as is laid out in the Great Commission, is to teach disciples to obey all that Christ has commanded. Scripture makes it clear that our love for Christ and our fellow believer is demonstrated in our obedience to his commands (John 3:36). If we don’t obey Him, we don’t love Him or one another.
Christians are defined by their devotion to Jesus Christ. Therefore, to disciple someone in the church means to teach them to be devoted followers of Jesus Christ. This is not simply, nor even primarily, an academic process but one of engaging with people in close community; teaching them and demonstrating how to live out Jesus’ commands. In that process, these disciples will become mature and able to effectively proclaim the good news and, in turn, disciple those who respond.
Because all authority has been given to Jesus, in heaven and on earth, he has commanded us to go outside the safety of the walls of the camp to join Him. In that process, we will encounter resistance and reproach, but God will be greatly glorified. (Hebrews 13:13)
Sending is critical to the mission of the church. The Bible promises that everyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved. But how can they call on Him if they haven’t believed? And how can they believe if no one proclaims the good news? And, how will someone proclaim the good news if they are not sent? (Romans 10:14-15)
oneTreasure will send. We will send into our neighborhoods, our city, our state, our nation and into the entire world, as the Lord leads.
