Tomorrow, June 1 marks an historic date for two church bodies in Salem. On that date, oneTreasure Church and Way of Life Fellowship will become one. it is an amazing work of God for His glory and the furtherance of his kingdom in Salem. We will be meeting each week for worship at 10:30 am. at Battlecreek Elementary School. Pastor Chris Robertson explained it so well in his letter to the church this week. Here is a copy of Chris’ letter.
In John 17:20-22, Jesus is praying a very intimate prayer, “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one.”
It is a rare thing to see people acting with humility in this world. We are a proud culture. We are a culture where the individual’s significance is often more determined by what they do than who they are. That is why I am amazed at what the Lord is doing at Way of Life. The Lord is bringing people together from all walks of life and we are all walking together with humility and unity.
I am so excited for this Sunday! It is the beginning of something really special. A unified and beautiful transition of two fellowships choosing to do life together. The humility and self sacrifice being demonstrated by all people involved in this transition is a wonderful picture of the unity and love that God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit share. What we will be experiencing on Sunday is an example answer to the prayer of Jesus, for oneness. Not sameness but unity in diversity. Loving each other for the greater purpose of bringing glory to God.
The strength in the body of Christ has increased by this union. The momentum that will come as a result of this collective humility and unity demonstrated by our coming together will be immeasurable. I am so excited to see what the Lord has planned for our community. I have a feeling that you are as excited as I am.
This Sunday, June 3rd, we’ll gather at 10:00 a.m. to fellowship together at a brunch potluck (details below), then head right into our service at 10:30 a.m. You won’t want to miss out on this Sunday gathering. It is the beginning of something really unique and special!
