Our passage this week is Hebrews 11:17-22. By faith, Abraham offered up Isaac. By faith, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau. By faith, Jacob blessed the sons of Joseph. By faith, Joseph makes mention of the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. We should be starting to catch on… by faith, by faith, by faith. Being assured of what we hope for and convicted of what we cannot see is pretty important! Here are a couple things to think about as we come to this passage:
- Read Hebrews 11:17-22.
- How could Abraham possibly consider sacrificing his son and why is this considered an act of faith? (the answer is in the passage)
- In sacrificing the son of promise, how does the story tell the story of the ultimate fulfillment of the promise to Abraham?
- How is Joseph’s mention of the exodus of the Israelites and act of faith? How is it also a picture of being an exile and sojourner in a foreign land?
