This week we will be in Hebrews 9:27-28. Just two verses, but what truth! Man will live once and die once. After that comes judgment. Here are a couple questions to consider as you read and meditate on this passage.
- Many people in this world believe that they will be reincarnated after they die. Others believe that this life is “all there is” and that they simply cease to exist after death. What does verse 27 say about such beliefs? Why do you think the author of Hebrews wanted to make sure we understood this?
- We only appear on this earth once. Verse 28 says that Jesus will appear twice. Why is he coming the second time? What did he do the first time, according to this verse?
- What attitude should those of us who are redeemed by Jesus have as we wait for his return?
Hebrews 9:27-28: And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
